Egypt recovers seven smuggled artifacts from the United States
The items include an Ushabti statue, an amulet of the god Set, a stone scarab, two stone human heads, a mummified falcon head, and a mummified fish.
The repatriation was carried out through collaboration between the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, under a 2021 agreement on cultural property protection.
This return adds to Egypt’s ongoing efforts to recover stolen heritage, following tens of thousands of antiquities reclaimed from various countries in recent years.
